Pancakes are kind of flat cake that are usually made up of all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, milk, any kind of essence for flavouring and may be egg. A batter with spreading consistency is made up after mixing all the ingredients and is spread on frying pan with butter or oil.

It is believed that ancient Greek and Roman invented the Pancakes and ate with honey. So, traditionally pancakes were ate as sweet dish but as time passed there are savoury version of pancakes too. Crepes are also type of pancake where the leavening agent like baking soda is not use and are thin and kind of crispy than traditional ones.

Pancakes can be eaten at any time of the day but usually it is enjoyed as breakfast. They are consumed by almost around the world, the recipes may be different depending on the part of world.

The nicely golden brown pan fried pancakes can be served with different toppings and filling both sweet and savoury. The sweet pancakes are generally filled with chocolate, jam, cream cheese, dry fruits spread and topped with bananas, strawberries, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, honey, choco chips, dry fruits and many more. The savoury pancakes that are mostly ate in India like dosa, cheela and may more which is filled with different spicy fillings and usually served with dips like chutney.

With time many fusion recipes also have been invented. And one can also find different ready to make pancakes mix in the market that just need few minutes to be cooked.
